"Frigiliana" by Klaus Hinkel

Klaus Hinkel is a member of the Andalusian Watercolour Society and was a founder member of the Malaga Watercolour Society. He has been successful in many exhibitions in Europe and America and has earned his living entirely from painting since 1990. As a teacher he is conscientious towards the needs of the individual student and people really feel they are learning something new and exciting. His style is very loose and free; the colours are pure Mediterranean. For more information about the artist visit his website www.acuarelas-klaushinkel.com

watercolour painting with a donkey under olive trees in Spain by painting tutor Ted Walker

"Burro" by Ted Walker

Ted Walker has taught drawing and painting for many years and given courses in Greece and Spain. At the moment he is particularly interested in the inter-play of man-made objects and nature, and works mostly in gouache and watercolour, although ink and other mediums can creep in occasionally! Ted has long experience with all levels of ability, and all mediums — you would be in capable hands!

watercolour painting of a Spanish terrace in the sun by painting tutor Peter Murphy

"Patio" by Peter Murphy

After studying Art and Architecture at Walthamstow College of Art, Peter Murphy entered the field of architectural design. He has worked on many successful international projects ranging from designing mosques in Saudi Arabia to Eurodisney in Paris. Throughout his career his interest in painting has never faltered and he has continued to paint at every opportunity. Many of Peter Murphys paintings are hung in office foyers and private houses.
Peter has had successful one man shows in the UK, Sweden and Belgium, and has also had works accepted in various open exhibitions.
Having spent time working and painting in France, initially living in the Cote d´Azur, he is presently painting and settled in the Dordogne area, in the south west of France. Peter is now committed to painting and teaching full time, and is currently working on a series of paintings of the local vineyards and Chateaux.

watercolour painting of Spanish sailors in the sea by host Sally Pead

"Dia del Virgen" by Sara Pead

Sara Pead studied in the UK, in the Bristol Academy of Fine Art, working mostly in pastel and oil. After some years painting portraits she is now enjoying the wonderful light and shade of Andalucia — the colour, the people, the local traditions. Her aim is to record the beauty around us in ordinary things, ordinary people, a shape, a reflection, the Andalusian sky and the events where local people are working in the traditional manner.
She has had exhibitions locally and has sold her work in Europe and the USA.

watercolour painting of an old cottage in Spain by painting tutor Barry Herniman

"The old Ruin" by Barry Herniman
(from his sketch book)

Barry Herniman has been painting full time for many years and has held workshops, demos and seminars in numerous locations both home and abroad. He works in a variety of mediums, but his first love is watercolour. His style could be seen to be ´loose and lively´, with an eye for detail and he never tires of the fluidity and transparency the medium allows. His subject matter ranges from derelict cottages to crashing seas.
He is a regular contributor to the ARTIST magazine and has articles in early 2007. He won the ´SAA Artist of the Year´ award in 2001. He believes that painting should be fun and is an amusing host often seen with his mandolin round his neck!
